Questions and Answers > Club Fitting > Hi, I'm looking to add some distance to my irons. What do you recommend? -Kevin, MA

Check out my About section and profile page if you would like to find out more about me and what we do.  You are also welcome to submit your questions.

    Kevin,

I recommend the Dynamic Golf Superlite shaft (DGSL) from Tru Temper.  It's about 25 grams lighter than a typical steel shaft.  This shaft is really good.  I mean really good.  It plays stiffer than the label, so if you swing S300s, or Rifle 6.0s, I suggest the R300 DGSL.  If you already play a regular shaft, you might ask your clubmaker or your pro to "soft-step" the shafts in your new irons.  Soft-steping is when we place the 3iron shaft in the 4iron, trim to proper length, and repeat throughout the rest of the set.  It softens the overall flex.

Some players feel that light shafts are too light...just had a little lead tape to the clubhead to make the swingweight heavier.
