Questions and Answers > Technology > I've seen the Trackman on the Golf Channel this week. What is it and do you have one?  Mike-FL

Check out my About section and profile page if you would like to find out more about me and what we do.  You are also welcome to submit your questions.

    Mike,

The Trackman is awesome!  It's a doppler radar housed in a a little box that does everything a regular launch monitor does except one very important feature, it tracks the actual ball flight of the shot.

I wish I had one, and I do know my local Trackman dealer, but these babies run $25,000!

By tracking the actual ball flight (launch monitors only predict) the player and the club fitter can analyze all sorts of features including:

    • ascent angle
    • descent angle
    • apex
    • actual carry

The descent angle is a pretty cool feature to analyze as you want a golf ball to have a moderate descent angle off the driver and a sharper descent angle into the green.  Knowing these factors can really make your club, loft, shaft, and ball selection precise as ever.
